OXFORD’S Chinese community – including Grace Zhang – came out in force to mark the Lunar New Year on Sunday.
Chinese New Year, as it is often known, is celebrated at a later date because its calendar is based on the phases of the moon.
The Town Hall in St Aldate’s played host to a colourful celebration organised by Oxfordshire Chinese Community and Advice Centre. A buffet lunch was laid on and there was traditional Chinese dancing as well as other performances.
Five-year-old Clement Jin, right, from Donnington, said: “I had a nice time and I really like the dancing and martial arts.”
This year is the Year of the Snake, which is associated with wisdom, beauty and intelligence.
