YOUNGSTERS explored Oxford’s Botanic Garden for unusual and interesting plants to mark an English botanist’s 270th birthday.
Families enjoyed activities including plant pressing, sketching and photography at the High Street garden on the 270th birthday of Joseph Banks on Wednesday.
Education officer Kate Castleden said: “We had a variety of activities available for families to get involved with including plant presses so they could make cards and displays.
"We had cameras they could borrow to take pictures of weird and wonderful plants and we will choose the best pictures and put them on our website.
“We had a steady flow of visitors throughout the afternoon. Those who came really enjoyed it.”
Mr Banks sailed on Captain Cook’s ship the Endeavour to countries including Australia, New Zealand and South America from 1768 to 1771.
