* Another Country, a gripping Olivier-winning play that has helped to launch the careers of Kenneth Branagh, Daniel Day-Lewis, Rupert Everett and Colin Firth, will be revived by Oxford University students at the Playhouse on February 13-16. The drama, written by Julian Mitchell, concerns a group of 1930s schoolboys and particularly follows the notorious Cambridge spy Guy Burgess – it’s a gripping dramatic experience. Find out performance times and book tickets at oxfordplayhouse.com, or call 10865 305300 for the box office.

* Stop the press: a rogue reporter is on the loose! Rich Peppiatt’s mischievous dissection of tabloid journalism is a deliciously devilish scoop – the ex-reporter turned comedian sheds light on Fleet Street’s illicit side. He’ll headline at Hertford College on February 17. Tickets are £10 from oneroguereporter.eventbrite.com.

* A local director will stage a special showing of his first feature film on February 20 – Alexander Nally’s adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey sounds an ambitious debut, but his film The Telemachy aims to resound with modern audiences by bringing a timeless father-son tale into a modern context. The event at the North Wall, Summertown is free to attend, with a post-film Q+A session. Come along at 7pm and support the ex-St Edward’s student.

* Those bored of the same old one-liners would do well to check out Simon Munnery when he brings his experimental comedy routine to the North Wall theatre on February 21. Fylm-Makker combines a multitude of mediums to construct an enthralling live experience; you can expect visual sketches, handcrafted animation, music and stand-up. Admission costs £13 – book in advance at thenorthwall.org or call 01865 319450.

* In support of Cowley Road Carnival, local favourites The Oxford Imps will bring their award-winning comedy act to the Pegasus Theatre on February 22. The show will raise money for East Oxford’s annual outdoor celebration, also giving you a chance to check out these Edinburgh Fringe regulars at one of their riotous hometown gigs. Regular staples to their set include comedy musicals and impromptu James Bond adventures – what’s really key is audience involvement. The fun will continue post-show at an after party in the Pegasus Cafe. Buy tickets at pegasustheatre.org.uk or call 01865 812150.
