FAMILIES enjoying a ‘Meet the Animals’ session at Farmer Gow’s had a special treat when Grace the ewe suddenly delivered her new twin lambs.
The newborns were the first of 19 deliveries expected at the activity farm just outside Faringdon in the coming weeks, and Farmer Gow herself – Anne Gow – said their debut provoked amazement and wonder all round.
She said: “We were just coming to the end of the session when Grace showed signs of going into labour and the children were transfixed when the first tiny lamb started to emerge. She was calm and started ‘licking over’ her baby, getting its circulation going and enabling it to stand up on its own soon afterwards. Then another appeared.
“The children were quiet but had lots of questions. It was a wonderful thing for them to see. It was magical.”
