A POLICE officer who claimed she was “bullied and victimised” by her male bosses after they cancelled her wedding leave has lost her employment tribunal case.

Pc Rachel Garrett, from Ducklington, arranged to marry fellow officer Nick Garrett, but discovered her time off had been cancelled without her knowledge, the tribunal heard.

The 47-year-old said her line manager had ordered the cancellation when her now husband, a sergeant, checked a computer system for her leave dates while she was signed off work sick.

She also claimed she was taken off some of her Olympic duties and was “overscrutinised” by Inspector Roy Atwell and Superintendent Gex Chiarello at Thames Valley Police.

The newly-wed sued the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police for sexual and disability discrimination after she accused her bosses of turning against her when she filed complaints against the force.

However, employment tribunal Judge Richard Barrowclough ruled her case should be thrown out.

A final summary of the case said: “No detriment arose as a result of the cancellation of the claimant’s leave; but that if it did, it was not because the claimant had done one or more of the protected acts.

“In relation to the claimant’s other complaints, we have no difficulty in concluding that no detriment at all to the claimant arose.”
