Big police callout to false alarm

A police helicopter, seven vehicles and 10 police officers were sent out to tackle what turned out to be a false alarm.

They were despatched to Roger Dudman Way at 10pm on Sunday night, following reports of a man trespassing on a construction site. Officers found the man – only to discover he was a security man on a night shift.

Spokesman for Thames Valley Police James Williams said: “It was a bit of a false alarm.”

Is somebody having a laugh at our expense. All that manpower and wasted money for somebody wandering around a building site, yet report a burglar in your house, and you get a PCSO tip up the next day with a crime number for you.

You'd have thought they'd have dispatched a patrol car first, I'm sure there must be a sign giving details of the security company responsible for the site, a quick phone call could've prevented all this wasted expense and manpower.

Simply amazing that so many Police people could actually be found to respond to the call-out, especially after 'Cuts Cameron' has followed previous governments in trying to re-define the need and role of policing agencies in the 21st Century, and instead continue to hire private agencies like Group4 for important events, such as the recent Olympics fiasco!
