BONES from a second skeleton have been unearthed at an Oxford college.
The human remains were unearthed the day after a first skeleton and skull were discovered by builders at Wadham College in Parks Road on Wednesday. The first skeleton was dated by archaeologists to be more than 100 years old.
Police were called to the site and taped off the area for five hours on Wednesday after a bullet casing was also found, but the two are being treated as unconnected as the bullet casing is modern.
The discoveries are not being treated as suspicious.
Archaeologists are excavating, recording and removing the human remains over the next few days.
College Warden Lord Ken Macdonald said the remains are thought to be from two different burials from when the college site was part of the precinct of a medieval priory.
Builders were excavating to finish drainage work when they made the discovery.
