A leak which risked an explosion closed Pear Tree service station and Park and Ride for the second time in two months.
Police cordoned off the Shell petrol station for two hours after gas started leaking from an LPG pump.
Access to the car park, the petrol station and the Travelodge and Holiday Inn hotels was cut off for two hours between about 12.10pm and 2.10pm.
An engineer was called out to seal off the pump, but the petrol station remained closed last night although the fire service said there was no longer a risk of an explosion.
Fire officer Richard Smith, said firefighters sealed off the pump and electricity supplies to the station, adding: “We put a cordon round it because of a risk it could ignite and explode.”
The services closed on November 18 because of a gas leak.
