FLOOD alerts remain in place in Oxfordshire today as the county continues to take a battering from heavy rain.
Train passengers heading for London Paddington have also been delayed at Didcot Parkway because of flooding between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.
There are alerts - meaning flooding is possible - on the River Cherwell from tributaries at Lower Heyford down to Oxford including Rousham, Enslow, Thrupp and Hampton Poyle.
The Environment Agency said river levels are “slowly rising” around Heyford Bridge but are not expected to exceed levels experienced during the November floods.
There is also an alert on the River Thames between Wolvercote to Radley and Jericho and from Abingdon to Little Wittenham.
The agency put up flood barriers in Osney Island, Oxford while Oxford City Council put up defences in Bullstake Close, West Oxford on Saturday.
Rain is forecast until about mid-afternoon in Oxford today and tomorrow morning.
Lower Road in Islip and Chipping Norton Hill at Ascott-under-Wychwood by the level crossing remain closed due to flooding.
Oxfordshire County Council has put flood warning boards at the B4022 at Hailey; Main Road in North Newington; Fox Lane in Wootton, Abingdon; Witheridge Hill in Stoke Road; Oxford Road, Horspath; B4020 Shilton Road, Burford; B4000 south of Watchfield and Lower Road in Eynsham.
