FLOOD defences being put up in Osney Island this morning are a "precaution", say the Environment Agency.

The agency has also issued its first flood warning in Oxfordshire - which means that flooding is expected - at the River Thames from Shiplake to Bolney Court near Henley including Lower Shiplake and Wargrave.

However, the number of flood alerts in the county has been reduced overnight from 19 to 13.

Flood alerts mean flooding is possible.

Further downpoars are forecast by the MET Office again for today and tomorrow.

The following waterways are on flood alert:

Clanfield Brook for Clanfield Village and the Shill Brook for Bampton

River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to and including Oxford

River Cole and Dorcan Brook

River Ock from Watchfield to Abingdon, and also the Letcombe Brook at Wantage, Grove and East Hanney
