Audio library wins royal accolade

A CHARITY which allows 400 disabled people in Oxfordshire to enjoy books will receive a royal award.
Calibre Audio Library is one of 60 recipients of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering Award.
The charity supplies audio books to people who are blind, partially-sighted, or cannot read books for any other reason.
Ray Davidson, 83, from Abingdon, lost the sight in one eye in 1996, then in 2000 the sight in his other eye considerably reduced.
He said: “The charity is a great help. Calibre gives an excellent service.”
Michael Lewington, from Abingdon, director of the charity, said: “I think we won this award because we place great emphasis on our volunteers.”
