A 60-bed nursing home could be built on land at the back of Mably Way Health Centre, Grove.

Developer AH Wantage has put in a second bid to build a residential care home on the site, after its first application was refused in June.

Staff at the two GP practices at the health centre have already expressed their concerns to the developer in relation to access and parking.

The original application in February was refused on the grounds of its “bulky” design, inadequate details of drainage, intrusion into open countryside and impact on the rural landscape.

AH planning consultant Terry Gashe said: “The new proposal is two-storey with a flat roof but built with masonry, timber and glass.”

The public is invited to view the plans at Wantage Civic Hall on Monday, from 3pm to 5pm, and then at Mill Hall, Grove, from 6pm to 8pm.
