A CAMPAIGN was launched today to finally name eight dead people whose identities have remained a mystery for up to 42 years.

Thames Valley Police, UK Missing Persons Bureau, and Crimestoppers, launched Operation Nightingale at the force’s headquarters in Kidlington.

Unsolved cases include a young man found who was found dead on the northbound M40 at junction 7 near Thame in January 2000.

The force’s major crime review team is hoping people will come forward with information after publishing drawings by a forensic artist showing what the dead may have looked like.

Det Sgt Craig Kirby said: “Thames Valley Police are committed to resolving these cases as each one is a person who is likely to jhave a family, possibly a partner, a child who has never known what happened to their loved one.”

He said none of the cases were currently being treated as suspicious.
