AN OXFORD church was not content with just one Christmas tree and instead has 36.
The trees are adorning St James’ Church in Beauchamp Lane, Cowley, as part of its Festival of Christmas Trees. Local groups, schools and organisations each decorated a tree on the theme of Christmas carols to help raise cash for Rosy, which provides respite nursing for children, and bereavement charity Seesaw.
Children from St Francis School sang carols and bellringers from Pegasus School performed to mark the opening of the festival on Sunday.
Organiser Lesley Williams said it was the second year running the church had hosted the festival, which runs throughout the festive season.
She added: “The atmosphere of visitors coming in and seeing them was wonderful. Our aim was to share the church with people out there, so it has brought people into the church.”
