THE Thames Valley’s new Police and Crime Commissioner has appointed a Buckinghamshire Tory as his deputy, on a salary of £35,000.

Anthony Stansfeld has confirmed David Carroll, from High Wycombe, has taken up his role as the new deputy commissioner.

It is a two-year post which means Mr Carroll will earn £70,000. Mr Stansfeld’s salary is £85,000 a year.

Mr Carroll is a councillor on Buckinghamshire County Council and Wycombe District Council as well as a former member of the Thames Valley Police Authority.

Mr Stansfeld said: “While Mr Carroll will deputise for me as necessary to discharge my responsibilities across all areas of the Thames Valley, with my headquarters in Oxfordshire and my experience of Berkshire I felt it was important I appointed someone with specific knowledge of Buckinghamshire to ensure I effectively represent the Thames Valley.”

Mr Carroll said: “I am honoured to have been offered this position and be able to support Mr Stansfeld in ensuring that all of the communities of Thames Valley have their policing and crime needs met.”
