TWO top BBC presenters excited fans when they visited Oxford yesterday.
Oxford University graduate, comedian and travel presenter Michael Palin and BBC sport presenter Clare Balding, signed copies of their new books.
Brasenose College graduate Michael Palin, who was at Blackwells, in Broad Street, said he had mixed feelings on returning to Oxford.
He said: “I do love the place, but it is somebody else’s place now.”
Avril Newman, 24, who travelled from Newbury to meet Mr Palin, said: “I was a Monty Python fan first, then I really liked his travel series.”
Jeanne Wilkinson, 66, from Summertown, was the first in line to meet Clare Balding at Waterstones, also in Broad Street, said: “I’m a fan for her sports presenting but I’ve bought the book for my daughter Sarah. I’ve already read it though, it’s great.”
