Today we talk to RUBY MAGIC, who has been a life model and runs a photography blog

WHAT I AM CALLED: Some people call me: Ruby, Rubie, Rubay (northern accent), Rubes, Rubbles, Rubinsky, or Booby but most people know me as Ruby Magic!

MY AGE: 25.

WHAT I DO: I am a life model for artists. I model all around Oxford in art studios. Sometimes I model with clothing for portrait drawing classes but most of the time I model nude for life drawing classes. When I am not modelling I still find myself surrounded by artists, which is why I started my photography blog called thehidden-image.com. I photograph the unseen moments of artists and write an article that explores their realities and life as an artists.

WHERE I LIVE: I live in Oxford.

WHOM I LOVE: Jazz musician Theo Jackson.

HAPPIEST YEAR: 2010 was my happiest year because I graduated from receiving my bachelors of fine arts. I had my graduation ceremony and most of my family attended. That year was the best because I achieved something I thought I couldn’t do!

DARKEST MOMENT: Sometimes it is hard living in a foreign country (I’m originally from San Diego) and my homesickness can give me some hard times. But overall I feel very positive.

PROUDEST BOAST: I can cook a MEAN roast. And it is always followed up by my Grandma’s recipe for peach cobbler.

BIGGEST REGRET: I feel as though I am still too young to have any regrets. I see my good and bad experiences in life as lessons. That said, one things I do regret is not reading more as a child.

WORST WEAKNESS: I’m determined to make thehidden-image.com a success but I am not a confident writer. I feel very comfortable behind the lens of a camera but putting the right words down has always been difficult for me. Luckily I get a bit of outside help with that.

LESSON LEARNT: When on a water slide, hold on to your bikini. Should be self-explanatory.

DULLEST JOB: Working as a temp publications assistant. Luckily the people made up for it.

GREATEST SHAME: Twinkies have gone bankrupt!

LIFE-LONG HERO: The one and only Josephine Baker. She was a famous dancer and performer and I have always appreciated how comfortable and confident she was with her body and her sexuality.

OLDEST FRIEND: Markesa Newton my childhood friend from age of six. We went to the same school as kids and we still are very close friends.

WIDEST SMILE: Theo Jackson. I mean this physically – that guy has a huge mouth. That’s why we don’t share food any more.

FAVOURITE DREAM: Spending Christmas with my Ma.
