HUNDREDS of children lifted their voices together to raise money for charity in the Big Christmas Sing.

The event was held on Tuesday and yesterday at Oxford Town Hall and featured more than 400 children from schools across the county. They were raising money for Christian Aid.

St Andrew’s Primary School, Headington, pupil Petra Band, seven, was among them.

She said: “It was really fun.

“It was scary being on stage with all the people watching, but I still really enjoyed it and liked the Christmas decorations in the hall.”

Liz Stock, from Oxfordshire County Council’s music service, said that more than £800 was raised on the first night.

She added it was hoped that the total would reach £2,000 over the two nights.

She said: “ There was some excellent singing from the children in front of a full house.”
