TIMETABLES for bus services through West Oxfordshire will not be altered this month, the transport authority has said.

Contracts for a number of routes supported by Oxfordshire County Council were set to expire this month but the collapse of local bus operator RH Transport has meant these plans have now had to be changed.

Following the collapse the council was forced to sign urgent contracts with other firms including Stagecoach.

Rodney Rose, deputy leader of Oxfordshire County Council, said: “Our original plans to make changes to bus services in this area have been overtaken by events with RH Transport entering administration in October.

“However, I want to reassure passengers that the bus network in the Chipping Norton and Charlbury area will be maintained from December.”

There will be no change to the current timetables of the 243, X8, X9 and C1/T1 services in December.

Saturday journeys on the 23A from Steeple Aston will be withdrawn but improvements to the Saturday timetable of the 811 service will go ahead from Friday, December 14.

Changes were made to the Stagecoach S3 service and the Sunday timetable of the 50 service to Stratford in November and no further changes will be made this month.

There will be no alterations to the Sunday timetable of the 233 to Witney and Burford.
