Two Oxfordshire schools shut due to flooding

Two Oxfordshire schools have been closed so far this morning due to flooding.

North Hinksey Church of England Primary School and St Ebbe's Church of England Primary School are both shut, but expected to reopen tomorrow.

Shame on North Hinksey school. There are absolutley no problems with access to the school by car or foot. Maybe the teachers will give up one of their inset days to make up for a lost day of education .....

You will probably find it has something to do with something in the school, such as plumbing or heating so they probably had little choice. I'm not a teacher nor do my children go to that school but think your comment unfair.

True there is water on North Hinksey lane covering a stretch of about 50m.But this in no way obstructs the movement of pedestrian or vehicle traffic due to both ends of this water hazard being easily by passed by the elevated road which serves the houses and school.

I think you'll find the school closed on advice of the Environment Agency as it was expected to get worse over the course of the day. Would not have been good to have a school full of children and no access in or out.
