Police officers claim 'Christmas cancelled'

THE body representing police officers in the Thames Valley claims Christmas has been “cancelled” after the force made shift changes at short notice.
Thames Valley Police has changed officer shifts on Christmas Eve from 2pm-10pm to 8pm-4am and officers will have to clock back on shift at 3pm.
The Police Federation claims the change contravenes regulations which require at least 90 days’ notice.
Thames Valley Police said it would look into the issue.
Assistant Chief Constable John Campbell said: “We must ensure we have the right number of officers on duty at the right times to provide the best service to the public.
“The welfare of officers is always a consideration when we have to make changes and we do all we can to minimise disruption as well as ensuring changes are in line with police regulations.”

I called 101 too report a mail scam yesterday and was told (rudely) not to bother the police but to take the problem to bank security instead.
When I feel I can trust my local police I might have some sympathy for their problems.

But maybe it'd make better sense for the clubs not even to open that night and pubs to close at 11pm. Let the drunken riff raff go home and upset their families instead of making the City a miserable place on that particular night.

You say you don't trust your local police, but I bet you any money if someone was threatening you or damaging your property, they'd be the first people you call upon.
Respect the Police, they do a good job, and were it not for meddling politicans, they'd do it even better.

I do not respect the police because I have plenty of personal evidence to base my opinion on.
Trust the police and usuing them are different things.
I suspect your are policeman. What do you think about the death of Ian Thomlinson and the fact that none of the police on the video reported seeing anything?
