THE family of Kevin Pryor was coming to terms with their loss as the investigation into his death continued yesterday.

Remains believed to be Mr Pryor were found on his houseboat Lady of the Lake in Wolvercote following a blaze on Friday.

Officers are interviewing those who knew the 49-year-old. Suspicious circumstances have not been ruled out.

Forensics officers have few clues to work with given the severity of the fire and are still stumped over what caused the boat to ignite.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope said: “People started to get in touch yesterday.

“Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.” A scenewatch was expected to remain in place for the rest of the week near the Duke’s Cut stretch of the Oxford Canal. Figures in the boating community expressed their sadness at the death and said anyone who lived alone on the waters could be vulnerable.

A post mortem is set to take place later this week. Anyone with information about the fire or Mr Pryor should call the police on 101.
