Bag snatcher targets woman in Headington

OXFORD: A 29-year-old woman was attacked and had her handbag snatched in Headington.

Police has just realeased information that the victim was walking at the junction of Trafford Road and Gladstone Road at about 10.50pm on Friday when she was approached by a man from behind.

The man put his hand over her mouth and forced her to the ground before stealing her bag containing bank cards and a mobile phone.

The offender is white, aged between 17 and 25, about 6ft and of slim build. He wore dark baseball cap and gloves.

No sooner are we led to believe that reported crime is on the decline, than some horrid little 'baseball cap-wearing six foot statistic' goes and proves it's not! As for the Police telling us the thief is 'white' ..... does it really matter what colour the person was, when next someone gets their handbag stolen? Or maybe thieves could wear 'previous offender' or 'deprived background' tee-shirts, so that victims would feel sorry for them, like magistrates all too-often seem to?
