A NEW subpostmaster is being sought to run Jericho’s post office.
Post Office officials are looking for someone to take over running the branch in a bid to seek a permanent solution to the area’s lack of a subpostmaster.
Both businesses and individuals are being called on to put themselves forward to run the post office on the corner of Walton Street and Great Clarendon Street.
Post Office spokesman Ruth Barker said: “Walton Street Post Office is currently operated by a temporary subpostmaster.
“The Post Office is committed to maintaining services for people in the area. In order to provide a long-term solution the Post Office has recently advertised for a potential partner to operate the branch.”
Post Office Ltd is either looking for someone to take on the existing branch or a local business willing to have it in its premises.
Ms Barker did not comment on what would happen if no one came forward to take the branch on, but said the Post Office was committed to keeping a service in Jericho.
Those interested in taking on the Walton Street branch should contact Post Office Ltd on 0845 601 6260 or visit ukpo.co.uk
