RESIDENTS in a West Oxfordshire village are “chuffed to bits” the Queen has thanked them for their Jubilee messages.
Her Majesty wrote to residents in Bradwell near Burford to thank them for wishing her well during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations earlier this year.
Valerie Kent, 67, who lives in the village, said: “I thought it was absolutely superb we have got recognition from the Queen. We are thrilled to bits.”
Children and adults wrote messages to Her Majesty – and Mrs Kent attached a poem – at the village’s Jubilee celebrations in June.
They submitted the messages via the Asda store in Wheatley, which was sending messages to Buckingham Palace at the time, and the store received a response last week.
The letter, signed by Her Majesty’s lady-in-waiting, said: “The Queen was particularly touched by the poem and thoughtful message of good wishes which you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.”
