Abingdon couple in court accused of string of fraud charges
9:00pm Monday 12th November 2012 in News
AN ABINGDON couple have appeared at Oxford Crown Court accused in connection with a £100,000 fraud.
Arron Thomas, 32, admitted five counts of fraud and three counts of transferring criminal property.
Mr Thomas admitted committing fraud by false representation when he told recruitment agency Hayes in October 2010 that he had no previous convictions.
He also admitted fraud by false representation in respect of invoices worth £36,679 made out to Tuckers Glass and Windows.
He admitted three further fraud offences – worth £8,508, £29,895.67 and £24,162.97 – last February and March.
Rhianna Thomas, 23, denied the charges against her.
She denied four counts of possessing criminal property, worth a total of £99,246.62, between last February and April.
She also denied three counts of transferring criminal property – £9,000, £4,250 and £14,135 – in February and March.
Mrs Thomas will return to Oxford Crown Court for a three-day trial, which is scheduled to start on March 25 next year.
Mr Thomas’ sentencing was adjourned until after his wife’s trial.
Both were released on bail on the condition they continue to live in Coopers Lane.
