TWO abandoned cats dumped in a cardboard box have found shelter at an animal sanctuary in West Oxford.
Janet Heath, of West Oxford Animal Rescue in Sweetmans Road, Botley, said the police delivered the two cats, one white, one tabby, after a man walking his dogs found them in a cardboard box in Didcot on Thursday.
“The man tried to get other rescue centres to take the cats but when that didn’t work he took them to Didcot police station, and officers got in touch with us.”
Sanctuary volunteer Cindy Murphy added: “More and more people are struggling to pay for their pets in the recession but it is so wrong to abandon animals at the side of the road.”
The sanctuary has notified the RSPCA about the case.
