A BESTselling author and an expert in palliative care are among the guests for a major fundraising event for East Oxford hospice Helen and Douglas House.

Actress Sheila Hancock, author Anthony Horowitz, BBC arts editor Will Gompertz and the hospice’s Dr Emily Harrop will take part in the second Full Circle event.

They will take it in turns to interview each other in front of an audience at the Oxford Playhouse on Sunday, November 18.

Mr Horowitz, the author of the Alex Rider books and writer and creator of television series Foyle’s War, told the Oxford Mail it was a cause he was happy to support.

He said: “I know how hard they work and how much money they need so it is one of my favourite charities to support.”

Mr Horowitz said it would be “a great pleasure” to be the person asking questions.

He said: “I answer so many questions about myself to so many different people, the opportunity to put somebody else under scrutiny will be a pleasure.”

Representing the hospice on stage this year will be Dr Emily Harrop, who has been a consultant at the Magdalen Road hospice for the past three years.

She said: “I am probably more nervous about doing the interviewing because I don’t have much experience at interviewing anyone apart from my patients.”

Last year’s event raised £10,000 for the cause, a total organisers are hoping to match.
