New business centre open
7:00am Thursday 1st November 2012 in News
A NEW centre designed to support and encourage the growth of small businesses in Witney has opened its doors.
The building in Wittas House, Station Lane, is the second Hexagon business centre to open in the last 18 months.
The first was quickly filled with more than 50 firms either moving in or receiving support from the operation.
The development is the brainchild of entrepreneur Brendon Cross, founder of Witney telecommunications firm STL Communications.
Mr Cross originally took over a nearby building that had been operated by the former Thames Business Advice Centre.
He said: “When we opened the first Hexagon centre, we completely underestimated demand for this kind of facility.
“We are confident we will fill the new centre before Christmas and I think we can roll the model out to smaller towns and villages.”
Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron was guest of honour at the official opening. He said: “This is very important for Witney and the whole country.”
