HUNDREDS of fans queued for more than two hours yesterday to spend a few seconds in the company of veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

Organisers of the book signing event at Blackwell’s in Broad Street estimated numbers would be higher than 800 by the end of the night.

The popular presenter and writer was there to promote and sign copies of Drawn from Paradise with co-author Errol Fuller.

Worcester College students Alex Morrice and Tom Stewart, both 20, were first in the queue after waiting for almost two and a half hours.

Tom, a music student, said: “We’re lifelong fans and both very interested in the natural world.”

Alex, who studies geography, added: “We’ve been here since 2pm. It was amazing to see him.”

Store academic manager Euan Hirst said crowd numbers had reached about 500 by the time the signing started at 4.30pm.
