Personal Overview - Politically, he has worked with Ken Clarke and Michael Howard advising on employment and education issues. A distinguished Editor of Blue Books which concentrates on new approaches to Conservative policy. Reports and writes regularly on Conservative issues in The Guardian and on the BBC's Despatch Box. He has also opposed the introduction of Identity Cards and has supported the retention of Community Hospitals, having campaigned to retain the Wantage Community Hospital locally. Gained a promotion into the shadow ministerial team relatively early in his parliamentary career and followed this on by gaining a junior Government role in May 2010.
Political History - Contested Bristol East (1997). MP for Wantage (2005-). Member of the Modernisation Select Committee (2005-07), Member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee (2006-07). Shadow Minister for Arts (2006-10). Characteristics - Has been active as a school governor at his old state primary school and he is also a trustee of the Trident Trust which is the largest work experience charity in the UK. Is a strong supporter of David Cameron.

Personal Overview - Replaced the outgoing Caroline Lucas here in June 2010 after she was successful in her bid to become the Green party's first MP at Westminster. He is an experienced Councillor, having led the Green Group in Brighton for a number of years. He has also shown an interest in foreign affairs issues, as a Councillor was active in campaigning to secure the release of Brighton resident Omar Degayes from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He has also been involved in High Court action supporting families with Autistic children. Within the party, he has been a spokesperson on planning and regeneration as well as a Principal Speaker at the time when the party had not adopted a single leader. He has also been involved in policy development with the party election manifesto. Locally, he he is likely to have gained a good knowledge of his electoral region through his work for his predecessor.
