The Wind In The Willows is the result of a year long project at Oxford Playhouse to introduce school children to the delights of a professional production.

And this weekend their endeavours will result in a full scale production of the Kenneth Grahame classic for children and adults alike.

In-house-producer Zak Khan is busy in rehearsals preparing for this weekend’s performances, kicking off tomorrow, with his cast from Magdalen College School.

The play is part of the Oxford Festival of the Arts, formerly the MCS Arts Festival Oxford.

Based on Badger, Ratty and Toad’s adventures with Mole and the great battle of Toad Hall, it is played out through children’s eyes.

“This is our adaption of a children’s classic, a story which everyone knows and loves, so we want as many people as possible to come on Mole’s journey and share in the magic,” he said.

The Oxford Festival of the Arts runs until July 2 and features big names such as Sam Mendes, Will Gompertz, John Simpson, Roger Black, Iain Pears, The Tallis Scholars, Xanthe Clay, Aldo Zilli, Marcus Brigstocke and Shappi Khorsandi in the most diverse and all-encompassing line-up yet in the festival’s eight-year history. www.artsfestivaloxford.org.
