The son of Coronation Street actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy is reportedly set to follow in their footsteps onto the cobbles.

Louis Healy was spotted at the show’s studios in Manchester last Friday where he had auditioned for a role on the show, according to The Sun.

The 15-year-old has two seasoned Weatherfield residents to turn to for advice: his mother played Rovers landlady Natalie Barnes from 1997 to 2000, and his dad briefly starred as plumber Brian Tully, the presumed father of Antony Cotton’s character Sean.

Denise is apparently incredibly excited at the prospect of her son joining the family business. Their other son Matt is the lead singer of The 1975.

A source said that Denise drove Louis to the set to meet casting directors.

“Louis felt his audition went really well and ever since their trip Denise just hasn’t been able to stop chatting about her son joining the soap.

“It’s a really big deal for Denise as obviously Corrie is a big part of her life having been on it between 1997 and 2000.

“As she’s just featured on EastEnders too she feels as though Louis will be continuing the family’s reign over soap land.

“It’s still not a done deal. But Louis felt like he gave it his all and is crossing everything.”

Louis has acting experience of his own, having starred opposite Suranne Jones in Scott & Bailey, and had parts in Doctors and CBBC show Hetty Feather.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: “We don’t ever comment on who may or may not have been seen by our casting department.”
