“It was great fun watching Rob and his friends having a few laughs at my expense! It really was a special night in aid of a very special charity. I hope everyone that came along enjoyed the evening, and I hope people tune in in November to see the show for themselves.”

BBC’s Children In Need supports around 2,500 projects in the UK that work with children facing a range of disadvantages, including poverty, abuse and disability.

Children from one of those projects, Chickenshed Theatre, a theatre company that promotes social change and diversity, also joined Sir Tom and The Shires on stage for a song.

The concert was filmed and will be shown on BBC One in the week leading up to the BBC Children In Need Appeal night, which is scheduled for Friday November 13.
