Can we all take a minute to process the exceptional piece of information that Great British Bake Off snuck in at the end of the final.
Namely: that finalist Ian Cumming baked a cake for the actual Dalai Lama on his 80th birthday.
Honestly, no-one could quite believe it.
This led some people to question whether Nadiya was the real winner.
And the jokes began.
But let’s not forget some of the other contestants.
Stu has started a blog and been awarded his first gold disc in music. Marie baked a 3ft robot for her son’s 40th birthday. Dorrett has received her first cake commission. Sandy’s in chats with the council to teach West Yorkshire how to cook.
Ugne’s in training for a huge body-building tournament next year. Alvin’s been whipping up treats for charity while waiting to do a patisserie course next year.
Mat has moved house – and become a dad! Paul’s called the “Baking Governor” at work. Flora’s started her History of Art and Maths degree.
Tamal passed his medical exams and is now making wedding cakes for friends. Nadiya is working on a lychee cheesecake recipe.
And, once again, Ian only went and baked a ruddy birthday cake for the Dalai Lama. (He still forgot to put sugar in an iced bun though.)
