Ryan Gosling could be a new Blade Runner – he is in talks to star in the sequel to the classic film.

The Notebook star is negotiating turning action hero according to Variety, and would star alongside Harrison Ford if he signed up to the role.

Blade Runner’s next instalment would take place decades after the 1982 original, which was set in a dystopian future in 2019 Los Angeles.

Harrison is returning as his original character Rick Deckard, but it’s unknown who Ryan is being lined up to play.

Ryan recently made his directorial debut with Lost River and can next be seen starring opposite Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys. Production is also currently under way for The Big Short, which sees Ryan star with Christian Bale, Brad Pitt and Steve Carell.

The Blade Runner sequel will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose latest offering, Sicario, will feature at the Cannes film festival and stars Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro.
