Brendan O’Carroll has revealed his doubts over a sequel to Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie.

The Mrs Brown’s Boys star, who portrays foul-mouthed Irish matriarch Agnes Brown in the BBC show, admitted that making a movie is tougher than the series.

“I thought about it. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t think I would,” he said. “It’s a lot of work. It really is. It’s really, really hard.

“In the amount of time it takes to make a movie… We can do a TV series in 10 weeks. It’s a lot more fun to do the TV series.”

The 59-year-old Irishman, whose show picked up the National Television Awards’ best comedy award for the third year in a row, continued: “To make a movie, it’s shot in scenes and we shoot three a day. Whereas when we do the TV series we’re filming all day all the time and that’s the way we prefer to work.”

Brendan also revealed that he has been developing another project with the BBC.

“We are working on a pilot of my very first play, called The Course,” he told RadioTimes.com. “The story’s about a man who gives a positive mental attitude course to complete losers in the effort to try and get them to sell insurance door to door. It should be fun!

“I have to say there’s other stuff I want to do, and there’s other stuff the BBC want me to do. Maybe we’ll try something. If it doesn’t work we’ll go back to Mrs Brown!”

Brendan also said that more family members could join the show.

“We had Jamie, our eldest grandson, playing Bono. And this year we managed to get a scene with our second eldest grandson. So we’ve got three grandsons to go,” he said. “I’m not sure… but this is a family and everybody works.”
