Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins wowed the crowds as she performed the national anthem in front of the Queen at the Epsom Derby.

Accompanied by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Portsmouth, the performance was met by cheers from the flag-waving race-goers.

Dressed in a strapless silver gown, the singer was soon trending on Twitter as admirers expressed their appreciation for her appearance.

Television presenters Piers Morgan and Eammon Holmes were among those expressing their admiration for her ensemble.

Jenkins has recently returned from America where she was competing in the television dance competition Dancing With The Stars.

She came second with her professional partner Mark Ballas in the final.
