Lady Gaga has touched down in Japan sporting a colourful, rainbow-striped hairdo.

The Born This Way star, famed for her eccentric style, greeted fans at Narita international airport, east of Tokyo with a huge ponytail of pastel shades.

Gaga - who toughened up her look with a studded black leather jacket - tweeted ahead of her journey: "On my way to Tokyo!!! I'm so excited I'm gonna sit by the pilot on the planes and ask him to go faster!! *are we there yet*."

After arriving, the star told followers: "Thank u for the sweet welcome Tokyo! Getting ready to meet Japanese Haus for drinks! I missed them! Your spirit is a rainbow like my hair."

The US singer, who is currently touring Asia, will hold three concerts this week in the Saitama super arena, north of Tokyo.
