Beautician Bernice is already unsure about marrying Home Farm owner Lawrence, as her family and friends aren’t too keen on the match.

Samantha told Soaplife: “She’s very unsure about whether or not she’s doing the right thing and it’s building up like a pressure cooker. Kerry keeps saying there’s no point in marrying Lawrence because he isn’t interested in sex and her mum, Diane, doesn’t approve of the White family.”

When pal Kerry Wyatt asks former flame Andy to act as a butler in the buff at her pal’s hen night, it simply adds to Bernice’s conflicted feelings.

At first she storms off, but when Andy follows her to see if she is OK, the pair end up sleeping together again.

Samantha revealed that Bernice still has a serious soft spot for Andy: “He really hits a nerve by asking her if she’s going to be happy. Bernice feels as if he cares about her.”

However, despite their night of passion, Andy, played by Kelvin Fletcher, confesses to Bernice that he doesn’t want a relationship with her.

“Bernice asks him if that meant anything for them and he says, ‘It was great, but I can’t give you anything else’,” Samantha said. “Her heart is broken really. She would call the wedding off if she thought Andy wanted to be with her.”

And to make things worse, Lawrence’s daughter Chrissie has seen them together and told her dad.

Bernice decides to confess all to her fiance and then is stunned when Lawrence (John Bowe) says that he still wants to go ahead with the wedding and would be happy to have an open marriage, so she could sleep with other men.

Samantha didn’t reveal if the marriage would still go ahead, but said that if it does, it would create an interesting dynamic.

“They get on well and they’re still an interesting partnership. They’re an odd match, but it seems to work. The fact that they don’t sleep together is interesting. It hasn’t been done before in a soap.”
