Tim Wonnacott has revealed the moves he learned on Strictly Come Dancing are still helping to keep him fit and healthy.

The 62-year-old Bargain Hunt host – who is currently suspended from the BBC show pending an investigation – competed in Strictly last year, and revealed he has kept up the hobby.

Tim said: “I wouldn’t say by any means that I am an expert dancer, but it has tuned me in to my body.

“I feel very much fitter and better as a result of the Strictly experience. As an exercise regime, dancing is the most marvellous way of keeping a bit fitter when you’re a bit older. And I’ve loved it really.”

The antiques expert is the head auctioneer for the Shaun in the City arts campaign.

The 120 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures designed by celebrities, designers and brands are to be auctioned off on October 8 to raise money for the Wallace and Gromit Children’s Charity, which distributes funds to children’s hospitals all over the country.

Tim said: “I don’t have a favourite. It’s impossible to spot really.

“Some of the sheep are by designers of great note – Zandra Rhodes, Cath Kidson, all those sort of names have leant their skills to decorating these pieces of sculpture, which should endow them with extra special interest, which might mean they make a special premium price.

“But it’s incredibly difficult to predict what these things are going to make and which are going to be the most popular, and that’s what makes the auction process so exciting.”
