Sam Smith, Muse and Florence And The Machine are among the big acts performing as part of Radio 1′s Live Lounge month in September.

Chart-toppers Jess Glynne, Ellie Goulding and Rudimental are also on the bill as the BBC station hosts 30 Live Lounges over 30 days.

Irish singer Hozier, aka Andrew Hozier-Byrne, will open the stripped-down sessions on September 1, while Canadian producer The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) will close the live gigs on September 30.

Jess, who is tipped to top this week’s UK charts with her debut album I Cry When I Laugh, will perform on September 3.

She said: “I can’t wait to perform during Radio 1′s Live Lounge month. It’s always so much fun and such a great celebration of live music! Woooohooooo. See you soon.”

Other acts in the line-up include FKA Twigs, The Libertines, Naughty Boy, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, with extended sets from Muse and Florence And The Machine.

Demi said: “I can’t wait to return to the UK and perform my new music for the first time during Radio 1′s Live Lounge month!”

The weekday Live Lounge sessions will be hosted by Clara Amfo from Monday-Friday, between 10am and 1pm, whilst Alice Levine will host the weekend Live Lounges during her 1-4pm Radio 1 show.

Clara said: “Since starting this slot on Radio 1, the Live Lounge month is something that I’ve been looking forward to. There’s a really strong mix of artists coming in throughout September and I can’t wait to enjoy their performances alongside the listeners.”

Stars such as Adele, Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have performed sets at Radio 1′s Live Lounge segment, which began in 2006 as part of Jo Whiley’s show.
