Last night’s Teen Choice Awards ceremony in Los Angeles was packed full of great moments. Here are nine of our favourites.

1. When Little Mix performed their hit single Black Magic and transformed in an instant from “geek” to “chic”, with what has to be one of the world’s fastest on-stage costume changes.

2. When Britney Spears won Candie’s Choice Style Icon and they produced a video montage including flashback footage of Britney presenting the 1999 TCAs.

Accepting the award, the singer, wearing a low-cut silver dress and with her long hair died purple and green, said: “Fashion has always been something I’ve loved to experiment with.”

It was a family affair for the star, who brought her niece Lexi, her sons Sean and Jayden James, and her brother Bryan to the show.

3. When 5 Seconds of Summer performed She’s Kinda Hot and the crowd couldn’t stop screaming.

4. When Sarah Hyland embraced physical comedy, stumbling and tripping as she came up to present the award for Choice comedian. Though she couldn’t blame a long dress for the fall, the actress laughed it off in style.

5. When One Direction recorded a message for fans as their acceptance speech for their eight awards.

6. When the cast of Empire performed You’re So Beautiful, with a fabulous surprise appearance by star Gabourey Sidibe who joined the dancers on stage.

7. When Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris accepted the award for Furious 7 and thanked their late co-star, Paul Walker. Vin Diesel paid tribute, saying: “One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we had the opportunity to call Pablo our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us.”

8. When Ellen DeGeneres accepted her award for Choice comedian and joked about taking the surfboard to the beach, and telling the crowd: “You know they say teens make bad decisions, but you made a very good decision tonight by choosing me.”

But, continuing on a more serious note, she encouraged teens to be “proud of being different, you should be proud of who you are,” before wishing her wife Portia de Rossi a happy seventh wedding anniversary.

9. When Flo Rida and Robin Thicke rounded off the show with a performance of I Don’t Like It, I Love It – and it was epic.
