Temperatures soared – but it wasn’t just the weather that got fans hot and bothered as Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Adam Rodriguez attended the premiere for their new film in London’s Leicester Square tonight.

The actors, who reprise their roles as strippers Magic Mike, Big Dick Richie, Ken and Tito respectively in the follow-up Magic Mike XXL, were joined outside the Vue West End cinema by their female co-stars Jada Pinkett Smith and Amber Heard.

Jada, who is married to Will Smith, flaunted her figure in a black corset dress by Balmain and Giuseppe Zanotti heels while Amber, whose husband is Johnny Depp, stood out in a red ruffled gown.

Channing, who was accompanied by wife Jenna Dewan Tatum, spent time signing autographs and taking photos with fans.

Members of the foursome complained about the perils of wearing skimpy thongs for the film’s sequel.

True Blood hunk Joe said: “Thongs are terrible, like very uncomfortable. I don’t know how you girls do it but I have respect for you.”

Adam, best recognised for playing Eric Delko in crime drama CSI: Miami, added: “Wearing a thong was the most uncomfortable thing for sure, especially when you’re in a thong with nothing else on but shoes and socks. It just seems so awkward and very unnatural.”

As for getting fit for the part, the 40-year-old said: “Everybody knows they gotta look their best. They don’t want to let the team down. Ten or 12 weeks before filming starts, you have to start working out and dieting.”

Matt, who received the biggest cheers as he made his entrance, admitted making his singing debut on screen was “terrifying.”

“It was completely terrifying because I was doing it live. I was singing at the same time as I was stripping in front of hundreds of people – the combo platter is pretty scary,” he said.

“But Channing and this band of brothers got behind me and supported me and made me believe.”

Jada portrays the troupe’s MC Rome, a role originally written for Jamie Foxx. The film marks her big-screen comeback, seven years after The Human Contract, which she wrote and directed.

She said: “It was fantastic. I had a great time. I got a lap dance from Matt.”

The sequel to the 2012 racy comedy-drama about a group of male entertainers known as the Kings of Tampa, based on Channing’s own experiences as a stripper, sees the friends reunited for a road trip through Florida to a strippers convention.

Magic Mike XXL opens in cinemas on Friday, July 3.
