Twin Peaks fans have been rejoicing at the news that creator David Lynch is back on board for the reboot.
David, who made the first series with Mark Frost, shared the welcome news with his followers on Twitter – with a bonus that the new series will run for longer than the nine planned hours.
Broadcaster Showtime added their own comment on the development.
David had announced that he was exiting the new series, which follows up on the 90s cult programme, earlier this year over a dispute with Showtime about how much money was available to make it.
He tweeted at the time:
But after cast of the original series put together a video montage of how they couldn’t imagine the show without him, things seem to have worked themselves out.
Kyle MacLachlan, who played Special Agent Dale Cooper in the original series and will return to his role, welcomed his director back.
Fans also tweeted their excitement at the news.
Showtime president David Nevins confirmed: “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected.
“David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”
