Mark Wahlberg has landed the lead in the reboot of The Six Million Dollar Man – which will now be called The Six Billion Dollar Man.
The Transformers star will play former astronaut Steve Austin in the film version of the 70s TV show, reported Deadline. He is fitted with bionic body part replacements after a near-fatal crash, and then uses his special abilities to work as a secret agent.
The movie will be directed by Peter Berg, who Mark worked with on Lone Survivor, and shooting is expected to start in 2015.
The film has been in development for years and Mark, 43, was first linked to the part this summer.
The TV series starred Lee Majors and ran for five seasons from 1973 to 1978. It spawned a spin-off, The Bionic Woman, which was rebooted for a short-lived series in 2007 starring Michelle Ryan.
