IT IS going to be Madness at this year’s Cropredy Festival. Quite literally.

The 2 Tone-influenced pop act, who made their name in the 1970s and 1980s, are among the headliners announced today for this summer’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.

The House of Fun stars, fronted by Graham ‘Suggs’ McPherson, will headline on the Thursday night. Friday’s line-up will be topped by tribute act the Bootleg Beatles.

Saturday’s top of the bill will, as usual, be festival organisers Fairport Convention.

The three-day event, near Banbury, runs from August 11 to 13 and attracts up to 20,000 people for more than 30 hours of live music from 20 acts.

The headline acts join a line-up featuring Streets of London star Ralph McTell, folk-rockers Steeleye Span and hillbilly rockers Hayseed Dixie.

There will also be music from young folk duo Gilmore & Roberts, prog rockers Lifesigns, Gryphon and Headspace, Anthony John Clarke and Fairport’s Dave Pegg, Sound of the Sirens, Wille and the Bandits, Richard Digance, Pierce Brothers, Demon Barbers XL and Babylon Circus.
