Tim Hughes meets a band playing with Reel Big Fish at the O2 Academy on Tuesday 11th February
Fun, silly and quite outrageous, Zebrahead are the jokers of the ska-punk pack.
The Californian ‘rapcore’ band (who pronounce it Zeebrahead, as is the American way), are at their best live, and make up a threesome with Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish at the triple-handed sold-out O2 Academy gig on February 11. The show follows the release of a video for their track Sirens which features on their album Call Your Friends.
Typically, and with the band’s customary sense of postmodern irony (or possibly just old fashioned sexism) the video shows the band having a good time in the desert with a bunch of semi-naked women.
“I had an awesome time shooting this video and I’m stoked for everyone to see it,” says guitarist and co-lead singer Matty Lewis. “There was a pig man, a pink bunny, dancing girls, a bear on a toilet and us. With a cast like that, what could go wrong?”
