BLUR star Damon Albarn will make an exclusive UK festival appeaerance this summer at Latitude.

The Brit Pop band’s frontman will headline the festival’s ninth year - his first show at the Suffolk gathering since 2007’s set with The Good, The Bad & The Queen.

His appearance will follow the release of his hotly anticipated solo album Everyday Robots in April.

A Latitude spokesman said: “As a musician who constantly challenges conventional boundaries and norms with his creativity, Damon Albarn is a perfect fit for such an innovative festival and now audiences will be delighted to see him appear for his first ever festival performance as a solo artist at Latitude 2014.”

Also playing Latitude, which takes place from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 July 2014 at Henham Park, are Two Door Cinema Club - who make their own first festival headline appearance; Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp and Swedish indie-pop pioneer Robyn. The festival will be the only opportunity in the UK to see the Scandinavians’ joint tour.

Fellow Swedes Goat also make an exclusive Latitude performance.

Other artists lined-up for the award-winning weekender are Billy Bragg, Brit award nominatees Haim and Anna Calvi, Memphis Soul legend Booker T Jones, Alabama’s Phosphorescent, contemporary classical pianist Nils Frahm, American folk-pop star Cass McCombs, Chicago singer-songwriter Willis Earl Beal, American baroque pop band San Fermin, British singer-songwriter Marika Hackman, alternative hip-hop musician Son Lux and modern folk singer-songwriter Josephine Foster.

The festival spokesman added: “So much more than just a music festival, Latitude presents a festival experience like no other, carefully curated so that culture lovers can experience performances by leading artists from the worlds of theatre, dance, literature, film, comedy, cabaret, poetry, fashion, art as well as music, all over one weekend.

“Latitude also offers the unique opportunity to watch artists perform new material before anyone else, and is a launch pad for many artists on their way to sell out tours and superstardom.”
