There’s just a week to go before the start of Oxfordshire’s first big festival of the summer – Cornbury.

The delightful weekender, held in the wooded grounds of Great Tew Park, near Chipping Norton, is, for many, a highpoint of the summer. And this year’s promises to be one of the best, with an enviable line-up that puts many bigger festivals to shame.

Gracing its stages from July 10-12 are icons Tom Jones and Lulu, Motown legend Martha Reeves, 80s pop star Billy Ocean, rockney-heroes Chas & Dave, Supertramp founder Roger Hodgson and indie- rockers Razorlight and The Fratellis.

Joining them are roots rockers Larkin Poe, Welsh alt-folksters Paper Aeroplanes, country stars Hank Wangford, The Shires and Ward Thomas; blues artists Joanne Shaw-Taylor and James Hunter, X Factor contestants Only the Young, and up-and-coming artists Jack Savoretti, Chastity Brown and The Harbour.

There’s also a fabulous comedy line-up – with Chortle Award-winners Katherine Ryan and James Acaster appearing alongside Joe Lycett, Aisling Bea, Oxford University’s Ivo Graham, Adam Hess, Felicity Ward, sketch comedy group Massive Dad, musical comedian David Elms, Pierre Novellie, Minor Delays, Kieran Hodgson, Emma Sidi and hosts Fin Taylor, Patrick Turpin, Jack Barry and Elis James.

Then there’s great food, literary talks, arts and crafts kids zone, Aidan Larkin’s Disco Shed, funfair, healing and therapy area, plus the Pimms bars and VIP area which give the gathering it’s epithet – Poshstock. “I’m really delighted with the variety of what we’ll hear at the Cornbury Music Festival this year,” says festival director Hugh Phillimore.
